Art the Clown will wreak havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully fall asleep on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that due to the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 (2022), several major studios had shown interest in financing this film even without a full script, but he turned them all down because he was sure they would never let him film the opening scene alone, which he describes as “very controversial.” Leone suggested that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in portraying horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all of the special effects himself to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck to make the film more mainstream. Mia mentions that the fifth anniversary of the original massacre is coming up soon, but it took place on Halloween, and for this film to be set on Christmas five years later would mean that the anniversary just passed two months ago.
